Question answered.

A blog reader asked how I keep up with all the information I receive in my classes. Here are my suggestions.

Repetition, reviewing lectures (mine are all on streaming video so I can review them as many times as I need), flash cards, reading the chapters and taking notes on what you read, group study work. I have tried all of these. I use a little bit of each, depending on the subject.

Time management is essential.

Are you studying at home and find it unproductive? Head to a quiet spot away from home.

How have you learned large amounts of information in the past?

It may take some time and adjustment to "get it" and unfortunately, until your first round of exams, you may not know if your study methods are effective.

My date book is filled in with study time, reading assignments and exam dates. Seeing a list and crossing items off as I complete them gives me a sense of accomplishment. My first semester was VERY overwhelming. But I made my way through it, as have many others. Keep plugging away. You may feel like quiting, but keep at it. It will pay off in the end.

Good luck, blog reader.
