Chocolate Bliss.

Happiness is finding your favorite dipping chocolate at a local grocery store! This yummy goodness makes my homemade Christmas candy so much better! I'm a chocolate snob when it comes to dipping chocolate for my Christmas candies. I've been using the Ambrosia brand of milk and white chocolate for many years. The first year living in western Illinois was difficult...I searched the internet for an online store to purchase it without success. Finally found a 15 pound bulk package at a wholesale food store of all places! Luckily, I was able to use the leftover chocolate the following year when we lived in Arkansas. I didn't even try finding it there! It's made in Wisconsin, and seems to be easier to find in the Midwest. Funny fact, my father told me he used to live down the street from the Ambrosia chocolate factory when he lived in Milwaukee many years ago. I wonder if the factory smells as good as this chocolate tastes?
Here's my to list for Christmas candy and cookies this year:
caramel
turtles
bon-bons
chocolate dipped caramel
peanut butter treasure cookies (peanut butter cookies, baked in a mini muffin tin, topped with a Reese's peanut butter mini cup. Yummy!
creamy kahlua fudge
oatmeal scotchies (not sure of the spelling....oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips)
peanut butter and chocolate fudge (great layered fudge)
Not sure what else I'll add, if anything. I have been making candy either on my own or with my family for as long as I can remember. I've even had candy and cookie events with friends where we would get together for a day of baking and candy making. I purchased a bunch of holiday tins and gift bags after Christmas last year to package up this year's goodies! I send tins of yummies to friends, family, and bring to holiday parties and family events!
I can't wait to start making this year's batch of happiness!

Later, Jennie

Wow - I'm so impressed by anyone who makes their own candy. I throw a party if a batch of cookies works out okay!

Interesting about the good choccy being from Wisconsin, since that's where I live! Thought we were only about the cheese ;)
